Swalberlack Gel  This excellent gel coat has been used for many years and can be found on many older gliders such as the Std Libelle, and Grobs. Very white when new it fades only slightly over the years. A good general purpose gel that is tough, polishes well and is resistant to gel crazing.

Scheufler T35  This gel coat has been adopted by many manufactures and can be found on most gliders made from the mid 1990's onwards. Slightly softer than Swalberlack when first sprayed, cuts back and polishes easily.

Hard Wax Polishes and Polishing Mops

Brown: The traditional hard wax as used by many German manufactures. Restores and protects gel.

White: This white wax is very good on new or cut back surfaces as it tends to cut and polish rather than just apply a wax finish.

Abralon Sanding Discs

These are one of the best kept secrets for getting a quick yet top quality finish on your gel finish. 6" velcro backed sanding disc mounted on a foam backing in various grades from 1000 to 4000. Use with air powered "DA" sander and water. Removes light sanding marks and leaves the gel ready for a light P1500 rub or hard wax polishing

Rubbing Blocks  The quality of the finished gel can always be attributed to the way in which it has been cut back. For best results early coat should be cut back using a hard stable block. Then as the paper grades increase you can use softer more flexible blocks.

We have found that these double sided alloy blocks give consistently good results. One side is polished alloy and the other is hard rubber.

Use the 1/3 sheet for large areas and the 1/4 sheet for more detailed work

Red Highligher Dye:  Use this liquid to highlight gel defects as you rub down. A must for the perfect finish. Supplied in 250ml bottles @

Wing Re-profiling  Pack:- When the gel on your glider is a few years old you will notice that the pattern of the underlying structure will start to show through. This is due to shrinkage of the resin and the gel as they continue to cure. This is quite normal and nothing to worry about. However this degradation of the wing surface can be removed by lightly cutting back the gel coat. This is commonly known as re-profiling the wing. We have put together a pack of materials, rubbing blocks and instructions to help you get started. The kit contains:-

  5 sheets of 800 grade wet and dry

 10 sheets of 1200 grade wet and dry

  4 sheets of 1500 grade wet and dry

 1 x Bar of Hard wax polish

1 x Pack of mutton cloth polishing cloth

1 x 250 mls Guide coat

1 x 250 mls Acetone

 1 x 1/3 Sheet Alloy/ Rubber Rubbing Block
