Christmas Ideas Just in case you are looking for inspirational ideas for those near to you for Christmas we may have a couple of special gifts of interest. The hard slog is over and copies of "The Hard Stuff" should be rolling off the press by the end of the week. With more than 110 A4 pages (not sure just how many more) this book is unique and is as far as I am aware the only book ever written by a professional glider repairer on the subject of composite gliders. Starting with the basics like Resins Systems, Fabrics and Tools the book goes on to discuss Simple Repair Scheme to both single and sandwich skin. With the aid of drawings and photographs the book then take a closer look at more Complex Repair Schemes, Jigging and Aligning Parts as well as Repairs to Control Surfaces, Assessing Damage and Quality Control techniques. The book can be purchase in two formats. Format 1 is the basic book and accompanying CD. Priced at £48.00. Format 2 is the book together with a series of fully explained exercises and materials to complete several self- teaching exercises. These exercises form part of our GRP course lesson plan and are a good introduction to basic laminating and the skills involved. GRP Courses For those wishing to learn even more about inspection and repair of composite gliders we offer special courses. Our very popular 5 day course looks in depth at all aspects of composite glider construction inspection and repair and costs £625 inc VAT. Provisional dates for these courses are 8th May 2006, 9th October 2006 and 6th November 2006. Each course is limited to 6 students so please book early. For those looking for a shorter course we have introduced a 1 day course which looks at inspection and assessing of damage to composite gliders. This course covers Basic Construction, Inspection, Basic laminating (including a short practical session), Basic Repair schemes, and Material Identification. The cost for this day course is a very reasonable £85 inc VAT. Dates for this course are set provisionally as the 6th May 2006 and 6th October 2006.
