Composite sailplane inspection and assessing 1 day course
The courses are mainly
aimed at BGA approve inspectors and pilots and has the support and backing of the BGA Technical committee who like us realise the need for specialist
training in this area.
The courses are run within
our workshop and take place in relaxed and informal surroundings.
Each student has their own working area and full set of tools.
The course made up of
lecture sessions followed by practical demonstrations and student
workshop time.
During the day the students
cover the following areas:-
|
Basic laminating |
Glider construction |
|
Assessing damage |
Material selection and identification |
|
Basic repair techniques |
Common damage and simple repair schemes |
|
Health and safety issues |
|
Each student will complete
an exercise making a small rib section to demonstrate the basic
principles.
We have invested in modern IT
equipment so that our course lectures are clear, concise and presented
in such a way as to promote learning. Course members are actively
encouraged to participate in the lectures and contribute though their
own experiences. This method of learning allows all students to
benefit from others and throws up many interesting questions
that bring the group into discussion.
Due to commercial limitation we
plan on running 2 or 3 courses a year. For practical reason
these tend to be in the spring and autumn when gliding is not so
demanding. Current demand for the courses is high with applicants
approaching us many months in advance.
Planned courses for 2006 are
